You will also want to remove any debris and vegetation that accumulated around the condenser during the offseason.
- Change the air filters – The winter season can cause dirt and debris to clog the air filter in your air conditioner and going into the spring season is the ideal time to change out and clean these filters.
- Clean vents and registers – When dirt, dust, and other allergens build up in the vents and registers in your home and the air is turned on, this debris causes the system to work harder than it has to. The dust and allergens will also be pushed out into the rooms of your home, causing poor indoor air quality.
- Test the thermostat – Once you turn your system on, make sure your programmable thermostat is working properly. If it’s not, your HVAC tech will be able to see what the issue is.

- Make sure vents are opened and clear of anything that would block the cool air from coming through
